Vacuum Cigarettes

CCIT (www.ccit.com) is an industrial leader in Packaging Technologies and Inspection (PTI). To test the closure integrity of a container with the vacuum decay method, it is necessary for CCIT to acquire custom receptacles for each of the products to be assessed. This project summarises well the value in The Countdown Company’s services, as it went through a complete rapid-prototyping process in a short period of time: going all the way from defining the project’s technical specifications to the manufacturing, testing and delivery of two distinct ready-to-be-used customized receptacles. To ensure a high performance of these vessels during CCIT’s vacuum decay tests, the critical aspects were accuracy and tight clearances. First, the test parts were digitalized to speed up the modelling of our solutions, then a loop of design optimisation was performed during the project’s design phase to minimize the air gap between the receptacle and the part to be tested.
